Doing Beautifully

Saturday 26 January, 2008

Yes, the plants are doing beautifully! The pitcher plants are making pigs of themselves by gobbling up tons of bugs - it's so interesting how you can see the silhouette of the poor buggies trying to get out of the trap! The flytraps seem to be a bit lethargic, though. I'm moving both types of plants into more sun, as with the slow change of the sun's movements I think both they and the pitchers are needing more. I just had to come up with a solution to where the dogs coudn't reach them, and now I have.

The ping is coming out of dormancy after putting up two lovely flowers. It and the sundews are in an east window and doing well, except for some interference from the cats. Too bad they're not big enough for the cats to stick to! LOL

I also wanted to mention how I got interested in these plants. I belong to an African violet list, and someone mentioned how they have a sundew in with the violets to catch various little bugs. I thought that would be cool, and so I got interested. While most African violets afficianados choose to get other plants like streptocarpus and other violet-related species, I went in a whole different direction!

My husband was kind of weirded out by the whole thing, so I told him he'd best be nice to me or I'd leave one on his pillow to grab him when he went to sleep. hehehe

Oh, and I also bought the CD. Great job, and lots of fun! I especially like the recipe for the potato salad. LOL
