- Nighttime temperatures are above 20°F AND
- Daytime temperatures are above 32°F.

- Your order is being shipped to a street address (as opposed to a P.O. Box).

Winter Shipping for Sarracenia and Venus Flytraps
- No special care required. We grow these plants strictly outdoors, so they are well acclimated to very cold temperatures at this time of the year.

Order by Mail:
1. Select your plants using our online shopping cart system. By doing so, the shipping charges will be calculated automatically and your plants will be held on reserve.
2. On the checkout page, enter in all shipping information and select payment by money order.
3. When you finalize your checkout, we will place your plants on reserve. You will also receive an order confirmation via email. Print out your order confirmation and mail it to:

Please include your money order (US currency). Do NOT send cash. No personal checks, please. Please mail your payment within 48 hours. We will hold your order for a maximum of 5 business days. GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION
How is experience level of plants determined?
We rate the experience level of plants by two things:
1) how well they adapt to the average home or garden andWe rate plants as easy if they adapt well to the average home or garden and bounce back quickly if you make mistakes. We rate plants as difficult if they have narrow growing conditions and struggle for survival if you make mistakes. If you are growing carnivorous plants for the first time and have very little experience growing plants in general, you will have a higher chance of success with easy plants. If you are an experienced plant grower, you may find growing difficult plants a worthwhile challenge.
2) how forgiving they are of mistakes.
How are small, medium and large determined?
Size is definitely relative, and what is considered medium to one grower might be large to another. To make the issue even more interesting, some species are naturally small, while others are naturally large, even if both are of the same age.
We use the following criteria to determine size:
1) size of the leaf and root system,
2) the approximate age of the plant and
2) the size pot that the plant is best suited for.
This is criteria is primarily used with Sarracenia and Nepenthes.
When I order a potted plant, do you repot it before shipping?
In most instances, plants are kept in their original pots from the last time we did our repotting. However, because many of our plants are kept outdoors and are subject to the weather, we may repot a plant if the pot and soil does not meet our standard of presentation.
When will I need to repot my plants?
Plants arriving in a 3-inch pot should be repotted within 6-12 months. (Miniature plants shipped in 3-inch pots may be repotted in 1-2 years.) Plants arriving in a 4-inch pot or larger should be repotted within 1-2 years. You can find repotting information for your particular plant online.
Will growing instructions be included with my plants?
Yes, you will receive a brochure containing the basic instructions for the type of plant you have purchased. Additional growing information for specific plants may be found online.
SHIPPING POLICIES
Do you ship plants to countries other than the United States?
Because of extensive permits we have to apply for everytime we prepare a package for international shipping, we ship plants ONLY within the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. We ship our CD worldwide.
How are my plants packed for shipping?
We do everything possible to make sure your plants arrive as if you came here to pick them up yourself! We spend approximately 20-30 minutes with each order, meticulously pruning and hand-packaging each plant for their journey to their new home. We tape down the soil and use protective domes that keep the leaves in pristine condition. We also box your plants with insulating packing peanuts that cushion your plants even when wet. (No cheap newspaper will do!)
Which shipping company do you use?
We use USPS Priority Mail to ship all plants and supplies. Average transit time is 3 days. You will receive a shipment confirmation from USPS.com when your package is delivered to the Post Office.

Do you provide delivery confirmation?
When your package is shipped, you will receive two notices. The first one comes from us to indicate that your order status was upgraded to Packaged and Shipped. The second notice comes from USPS.com. This notice contains your USPS delivery confirmation number. Please note that you may need to adjust your email filters.
What is your shipping and handling fee?
Shipping is now based on weight, volume and destination. You can always view the calculated shipping and handling charges directly on your shopping cart.
What if I want overnight delivery? Can you do it?
Yes and no. We can send packages via Express Mail. But because we are in a rural location, the Post Office only guarantees 2-day delivery. (Priority Mail is 2- to 3-day delivery.) If you are ordering extremely rare specimens, Express Mail may be advantageous because the Post Office will pay more attention to the timing of the delivery of your package, even if they only guarantee 2-day delivery. Please phone in your order if you want Express Mail.
What if I need rush processing? Can you do it?
We understand that there may be times when you need your plants shipped as soon as possible. While we attempt to be amendable to your requests, we may not always be in a position to place your order ahead of others. This is especially true when we have a lot of orders to process at one time, such as during spring and Christmas. Please call us to verify your request.
Will non-plant items be shipped with my plants?
Non-plant orders are shipped with your plants via Priority Mail.
EXTREME WEATHER SHIPPING
Do you ship plants during the winter?
Because we grow Sarracenia and Venus flytraps exclusively outdoors, we
ship these plants throughout the year, regardless of your temperatures.
By winter, our plants will have already acclimated to very cold
conditions.
If your daytime temperatures are below 35°F, we will automatically hold your order until daytime temperatures are consistently above 35°F.
In general, during the winter months, we sell tropical plants that have some reasonable tolerance for cooler temperatures. As a precaution, we strongly advising the following:
• Purchase a 72-hour heat pack with your order.
• Ship your plants to a P.O. Box or to an address where someone can immediately shelter your package.
Do you ship plants during the hottest parts of summer?
Yes, we do! Of course, plants that are very sensitive to very warm temperatures are taken offline simply because they don't look very good when it's too hot. All plants that are available online during the summer months are tolerant of being shipped during heat waves. For best results, ship your plants to a P.O. Box or to another address where someone can immediately shelter your package.
RESERVING PLANTS
Can I reserve plants or place plant on hold to be shipped later?
Yes and no. In general, all plants are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We also prefer to ship plants immediately rather than holding them, especially if a plant is on sale or if we have a very small supply and demand is high. We will reserve plants, but only on a case-by-case basis. Please call us if you have any questions regarding reserving plants. Otherwise, please use the product notification feature on our website. You will be notified when a plant is about to go online for purchase.
NOTE: Requesting notification when a plant is available is NOT a reservation. It is only a notification.

Perfect Arrival Guarantee
We guarantee that your plants will arrive in perfect and healthy condition. If, for any reason, you are not pleased with the quality of any plant upon arrival, please contact us by phone or email within 72 hours from the time of arrival (as confirmed by your tracking number at USPS.com.)As distressing as it may be when receiving a plant that is less than healthy, please use a pleasant tone of voice when contacting us. Sometimes mistakes happen, either with us or with the Post Office. We will certainly listen to your concerns, and it's a lot easier to hear them when everyone is calm and friendly. (If you receive our answering machine, please leave a message or contact us by email.)
Should your plant arrive distressed, we will most likely recommend specific growing steps to nurture the plant back to health. We do this because we also guarantee the health of your plants for 30 days from the time of shipping. If the stress was minimal, your plant will recover nicely.
If the stress was severe, then we will take care of the situation immediately. At our discretion, we will send you a replacement, or exchange the plant with another of equal or greater value, or give you an in-store credit, or refund your purchase price.
NOTE: Replacements and refunds do not apply to bonus plants or plants given at no charge. Shipping charges strictly non-refundable. Guarantee is void if you contact us by phone or email more than 72 hours after the arrival of your plants (as confirmed by your tracking number at USPS.com).
In Stock Guarantee
We guarantee that when we receive your order, we will have your plants in stock. However, there are times when plants do not meet our standards and specifications, or they simply succumb to weather, animals and other natural forces. In these instances, we often withhold plants. Should this happen to a plant that you have ordered, we reserve the right to cancel that item from your order. If we cancel that item from your order, will will adjust the shipping fee accordingly and provide you a small plant of similar nature at no charge. (We do NOT substitute plants unless you specifically request a substitution or you have paid with a check or money order.)The In Stock Guarantee applies only to online and phone orders paid by credit card. The guarantee is void with orders paid by check or money order.
30-Day Guarantee
We guarantee that the plants we send you will maintain their excellent health throughout the first 30 days from the time of shipment, provided that you follow these guidelines:
• You must provide the recommended sunlight and water as indicated in our online care sheets and/or literature included with your plants. (For example, placing your Venus flytrap in a terrarium or keeping your sundew in a broom closet automatically voids this guarantee!)
• If you have questions about the recommended care, please submit your questions at AllExperts.com.
• If your plant isn't growing as well as you expected during the initial 30 days, please contact us immediately by phone or email (via AllExperts.com). Please provide complete information about how you're growing your plant. This is to help us properly diagnose the problem.
• If we provide specific recommendations to fine tune your growing conditions, you must agree to implement those changes within 48 hours.
After following these guidelines and the plant doesn't maintain its health, at our discretion, we will either provide you with an in-store credit of the purchase price of the plant or send you a replacement plant (of equal or greater value) that is best suited for your growing conditions.
