Looking for something unusual, exotic and rare? Try this plant. It's native to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, and researchers didn't discover this plant until 2004. The pitchers have a unique toilet shape, so the plant was affectionately called jamban, which means toilet in Indonesian.
This is a vigorous grower, and despite its highland status, it grows well as a houseplant and produces a rambling vine. Pitchers range from reddish orange to green. As a highlander, however, it prefers very cool nights. Other than that, it’s very easy to care for. Keep the soil moist at all times and provide lots of sunlight through a sunny south or east window.
