Dente Flytrap

The Dente variety was cultivated for its short, triangular teeth. This variety also produces leaves that tend to grow upright during the growing season and has proven to be a very vigorous grower.

The funny thing about this plant is the way it captures flies.  The typical Venus flytrap has long teeth that prevents flies from escaping as the trap is closing.  The Dente flytrap has shorter teeth, so when the trap closes, some flies if they're fast enough.  If not, they'll get their head caught.  Many times we find flies caught only by their heads in our crop of Dente flytraps.


We grow our flytraps outdoors throughout the year, so plants are already acclimated for outdoor growing. If you are looking for a carnivorous plant to grow in your windowsill, please consider growing a tropical carnivorous plant instead.
